Anti Wrinkle Injections

Professional Medical Injector in Newcastle – Customised Treatments – Advanced Techniques

Anti Wrinkle Injections (like Botox) are a safe, effective and affordable way to rejuvenate the face

At The Mayah Clinic in Newcastle, we will customise your anti wrinkle treatment to your anatomy, your preferences and your individual needs. As a result, we recommend a consultation with your first visit. This ensures you get the best treatment for you, achieving the result you are after. The consultation can be followed by a treatment at that same visit time. Because your injections are customised in dose and positioning, you will always be charged for exactly the number of units used, rather than by a blanket “area” cost.

Area’s we can treat with Anti Wrinkle Injections

There is an anti-wrinkle Botulinum Toxin from Germany that has been used world wide for 8 years and is TGA approved in Australia. Up till now, I have not seen a good reason to use it at the Mayah Clinic in preference to the 2 other brands we currently use. BUT – there is some exciting new research about this product. It is a completely pure botulinum toxin, 100% free of complexing proteins.

Why does that matter? It is these proteins that have been found to be the cause of people developing resistance to these other types.

Resistance to these medications may not seem a big deal – you might think, well all it means is that we can’t treat wrinkles anymore. While that IS true, these products are becoming widely used in general medical areas now ( eg. For muscle spasm, migraines, bladder issues, anal fissures, cerebral palsy, post- stroke muscle spasm etc etc ). If you become resistant, then you won’t be able to use them for these medical purposes either.

In the 8 years of use world wide, this pure German product has had 0% cases of resistance. Both of the other TGA approved products in Australia currently have issues with resistance developing.

Resistance developing is in these products has been shown to be associated with larger doses and more frequent use. This is another good reason to not over treat with toxin. You might be used to getting treatments at clinics that routinely use a bucket of toxin in every treatment. Maybe it’s time to rethink that. Also, it has been shown that with higher doses of toxins, more measurable amounts are found to have migrated to other areas of the body.

Low dosing keeps this risk right down. At the Mayah Clinic we are always aiming to prove natural rejuvenation with only the dose needed. Here are more very good reasons why that’s worthwhile, and best for you and your health.

So, next time you are in for your anti-wrinkle injection, ask for the German one!

Frequently Asked Questions

How are anti wrinkle injections (like Botox) used?

  • Anti wrinkle injections help to smooth specific facial muscles that lead ti lines or sagging.
  • See effects in just 7 days!
  • Results should look natural and freshened
  • Can be used in combination with dermal fillers, laser and other skin rejuvenation treatments
  • It is a safe treatment used worldwide for many years. It was first trialled in 1978, Allergan took it on in 1988.

A very small amount of purified protein is injected into the muscles with a very fine needle. It is targeting muscles whose function results in the line or issue of concern, not necessarily into a specific line. Over 7-10 days, the muscle relaxes, and the anti wrinkle result becomes evident. In approximately 3-5 months, the effect wears off and the treatment must be repeated.

It is important to note that lines which are present at rest (when your face is not moving), will not immediately disappear with anti wrinkle injections. Dr.Holmes will explain the expected short term and long term results specific for you at your consultation.

Are there any side effects of anti wrinkle injections?

Side effects are uncommon and will be explained at your visit. Of course it is possible to have a tiny bruise at an injection site, but mostly, after 10-15 minutes there is nothing visible on the skin.
You can minimise bruising risk by not have aspirin, nurofen, alcohol or fish oil 24 hours prior to the injections.

Do anti wrinkle injections hurt?

Anaesthetic numbing cream can be applied before hand if requested at booking time. However most people with have the treatment with ice only. The injections do sting but are over quickly, so tolerated well by most clients.

How much do anti wrinkle injections cost?

This will depend on the number of units used in your anti wrinkle treatment, and will be decided on in consultation with the doctor. Per Unit costs start at $4 per unit but vary depending on the product and amount used in a session. As a rough guide, the average frown treatment may cost approximately $250.
