Anti Wrinkle Injections (Botulinum Toxin)

Anti Wrinkle Injections are botulinum toxin medicatons. They are a popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. We customise treatments to your natural anatomy, preferences and individual needs.

Overview

Anti-wrinkle Injections work by blocking the signals between nerves and muscles, preventing the muscle contractions that lead to wrinkles. The protein used is highly purified, safe and effective.

Dr Kathryn Holmes will assess your facial muscles, discuss your desired results, and create a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

Results will be visible from 7 to 10 days post treatment. Effects will wear off within 3 to 5 months, thus the treatment must be maintained to keep up the results.

Please note, these are prescription medications in Australia, so we cannot list them by name. They must be prescribed for each patient, and cannot be involved in any special offers or discount promotions.

Consult with our qualified team to determine if this is the right solution for your needs.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your clinician will work with you to understand the dosage and approach that is right for you.

The injection procedure is relatively quick and usually takes around 10-15 minutes to complete. It is considered minimally invasive and generally requires no anaesthesia. However, a topical anaesthetic cream may be applied to minimise discomfort, if needed.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR TREATMENT

On the day of the treatment, arrive with the treatment area cleansed, free of makeup, creams or any other skincare products.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are there any side effects to Anti Wrinkle Injections?

Side effects are uncommon and will be explained at your visit. Of course, it is possible to have a tiny bruise at an injection site, but mostly, after 10-15 minutes there is nothing visible on the skin.

You can minimise bruising risk by not having aspirin, ibruprofen, alcohol or fish oil 24 hours prior to the injections.

Do Anti Wrinkle Injections hurt?

Anaesthetic numbing cream can be applied before we commence treatment. However most people will have the treatment without any addition product, or with ice if needed. The injections do sting but are over quickly.

How much do Anti Wrinkle Injections cost?

The cost will depend on the number of units used in your treatment. The recommended units will be decided on in consultation with the doctor. Costs start at $15 per unit but vary depending on the product and amount used in the session. We have 4 different anti wrinkle products approved for use in Australia. As a rough guide, the average frown treatment may cost approximately $250.

Some injectors may charge a standard area price, but at The Mayah Clinic we feel this is not best practice as some people may need only tiny amounts in one area and larger in another. We take a transparent approach allowing you to pay for exactly the units that are used during your treatment.
