Dermapen Microneedling

About Dermapen Microneedling

Dermapen Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment that uses a handheld device to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin. This process stimulates a natural healing response, promoting collagen and elastin production, resulting in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.

Dermapen microneedling is a collagen induction therapy that involves using a small handheld device with multiple fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin’s surface.

These micro-injuries stimulate the skin’s natural healing process, leading to collagen production and skin rejuvenation. Dermapen microneedling can be used to improve the appearance of various skin concerns, including fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, and texture irregularities.

Used to Treat

  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles
  • Acne scars
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Skin texture
  • Strech marks

During the treatment, a numbing cream can be applied to minimise any discomfort.

The depth of needle penetration will be adjusted according to the specific needs and areas being treated.

After the procedure, the skin may appear red and slightly swollen, (similar to a mild sunburn). This typically subsides within a day or two, and the skin may feel sensitive during this time. The full results will become more noticeable as the skin’s natural healing process progresses in the coming weeks.

Before undergoing Dermapen Microneedling, we recommend a consultation with our skin acre expert, Dr Kathryn Holmes to assess your skin and discuss your goals. We will then provide specific pre-treatment instructions, which typically includes avoiding direct sun exposure, discontinuing the use of certain skincare products, and informing us about any medications or skin conditions you may have.

It is important to follow our instructions to ensure the best possible results and minimise any potential risks or complications.

How many sessions are needed?

The number of sessions required depends on your specific skin and concerns. Typically, a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart is recommended for optimal results.

Is the procedure painful?

Numbing cream can be applied before the treatment to minimise your discomfort. While some sensations may be felt during the procedure, it is generally well-tolerated by most patients.

How long does the recovery take?

The downtime is minimal, with most individuals able to resume daily activities immediately after the treatment. However, the skin may appear slightly red and swollen for a short period, depending on the depth and intensity of the treatment. It is important to follow post-treatment care instructions.

Are there any side effects or risks?

Dermapen needling is considered a safe procedure. Potential and unlikely side effects may include temporary redness, swelling, mild bruising, or sensitivity. Serious complications are very rare as we follow proper hygiene and safety procedures.
